A Minimal tight-binding model for ferromagnetic canted bilayer manganites

Half-metallicity in materials has been a subject of extensive research due to its potential for applications in spintronics. Ferromagnetic manganites have been seen as a good candidate, and aside from a small minority-spin pocket observed in La(2-2x)Sr(1+2x)Mn(2)O(7) (x = 0.38), transport measurements show that ferromagnetic manganites essentially behave like half metals. Here we develop robust...

ferromagnetic Kondo model for manganites.

Spin dynamics in the generalized ferromagnetic Kondo model for manganites. Dynamical spin susceptibility is calculated for the generalized ferromagnetic Kondo model which describes itinerant e g electrons interacting with localized t 2g electrons with antiferromagnetic coupling. The calculations done in the mean field approximation show that the spin-wave spectrum of the system in ferromagnetic...

Spin excitations in ferromagnetic manganites

An effective one–band Hamiltonian for colossal–magnetoresistance (CMR) manganites is constructed and the spin excitations are determined. Fitting the experimental data by the derived spin–wave dispersion gives an eg–electron hopping amplitude of about 0.2 eV in agreement with LDA band calculations.

Magnons in ferromagnetic metallic manganites.

Ferromagnetic (FM) manganites, a group of likely half-metallic oxides, are of special interest not only because they are a testing ground for the classical double-exchange interaction mechanism for the 'colossal' magnetoresistance, but also because they exhibit an extraordinary arena of emergent phenomena. These emergent phenomena are related to the complexity associated with strong interplay b...

Calculation for Energy of (111) Surfaces of Palladium in Tight Binding Model

In this work calculation of energetics of transition metal surfaces is presented. The tight-binding model is employed in order to calculate the energetics. The tight-binding basis set is limited to d orbitals which are valid for elements at the end of transition metals series. In our analysis we concentrated on electronic effects at temperature T=0 K, this means that no entropic term will be pr...
